Just found a WW1 postcard of a sailor with the inscription "Mr Tuckey" on the back...Theres only one on the MIC....anyway of checking naval records?

Doubt he would be on the online MICs if he was Navy; only if he served ashore with Army (and then not always).

However, given only one MIC response it is likely he will be quite easy to find in the Navy (400,000 Navy compared to 10x number in Army).

Service papers can be searched by surname (look on thread on British Medal Forum) and RN medal rolls are listed alphabetically, allowing one to get his service number from that (if there are not too many, although details on p/c might help).
