Desmond7 Posted 12 July , 2005 Share Posted 12 July , 2005 I wholeheartedly applaud this effort. Saw a snip on TV and I thought it was very encouraging. Des
carninyj Posted 13 July , 2005 Share Posted 13 July , 2005 Des, I agree with you. There must have been such terrible heartache for men and their families after WW1. I cannot imagine what it was like to serve or to have family killed and then to realise that such service and sacrifice must never be mentioned. It's time they were properly honoured. swizz Posted 16 July , 2005 Author Share Posted 16 July , 2005 In the 1930s, British Legion groups from Donegal regularly crossed the border to attend Armistice Day events within Northern Ireland - usually at somewhere like Derry or Omagh. There was actually a public war memorial hall a few miles over the border in east Donegal but I don't know if its still there today. A positive news story.
