HMS SURF

Greetings,

I am looking for any and all information on the HMS SURF. What little I know is that it was a hired yacht and that it might have had something to do with coastal patrols.

Hope there might be more info and possible photos, etc.

Yacht,

560 tons

Built 1902.

02/1915 – 04/1919 Hired as an Auxiliary Patrol Yacht

01/1939 Hired as an Armed Boarding Vessel, 1-12 pounder.

Sunk 06/04/1941 by air attack at Piraeus.

Hello

SURF lost one Ordinary Seaman George Price overboard in 1918. No other casualties for her appear in the War.

Thanks for the added information. The reason that I am inquiring is that I have recently obtained a Royal Naval LSGC to an AB who served on HMS SURF.
