16th Batt dates are 8 Nov 1915-17 June 1918.

2nd Batt dates are 5 Aug 1914-18 April 1917 more to come.

Is there a chance you check the 16th Bn diary for info on actions 25 April 1917 and a few days prior? I have a medal to 40847 Pte John Parkin, 16 Bn who died 25 April 1917, buried Mont Huon Mil Cem, Le Treport.

Any info would be appreciated,

In case "themonsstar" misses your posts, Forum member "2nd Manchesters" will be worth a PM for Graeme's second query. As suggested by his username, the battalion is his specialist interest.

With regard to 16 Manc on 9 July, there is an extensive entry in the Battalion history (now reprinted by Naval & Military) that is probably more extensive that the war diary. I'm afraid it's too long to transcribe and my scanner is on the blink once more.

With regard to April 1917, this is a link to a page on my website which may help. I suspect that clubby's man was fatally wounded also on 23 April. Linky link
