draperju Posted 2 July , 2005 Share Posted 2 July , 2005 I would be grateful if anyone can help me in ascertaining the whereabouts of the 1/4th York and Lancaster Regiment during the first half of October 1917. I am researching a soldier Private Walton Bell who died on the 9th October 1917 and is commemorated at Tyne Cot. Best wishes Draperju
Guest Neil Dandy Posted 22 January , 2006 Share Posted 22 January , 2006 HI Just logged on to this site and seen your post. My fathers uncle was in the 1st/4th Bn., York and Lancaster Regiment and died on Tuesday 9th October 1917 aged 21. His name was Private George Dandy 203522. I have been to the Tyne Cot Memorial and seen his name on the panel. I am afraid that is as far as i can go but one interesting aspect is that on his campaign medals around the outside it says 5732 Pte. G. Dandy. Northumberland Fus ? Does anybody know why NeilDandy
