Paul Reed Posted 30 June , 2005 Share Posted 30 June , 2005 Remembering the men of the 11th, 12th and 13th (South Downs) Battalions of the Royal Sussex Regiment who fought and died in the attack on the Boar's Head at Richebourg 89 years ago today on 30th June 1916. With 1100 casualties - more than 360 of them fatal - many veterans called it The Day Sussex Died. Below is A Company, 12th Bn (2nd South Downs) which was all but wiped out on 30th June.
