Broznitsky Posted 9 July , 2003 Share Posted 9 July , 2003 830029 Sinizki, D Private Cowardice 9 October 1917 On checking NAC, this number comes back to a George Appleboom, but the battalion and dates match other info on Stephen Stratford's site. Does anybody know more about this Russian/Ukrainian? I am also intrigued by Arthur Godefroy's contention (as described on shotatdawn.org) that Sinizki's execution was partially politically motivated by the events surrounding the Russian Revolution and Russians serving in the French Army mutinying. Can anybody comment on this? Peter
Terry Denham Posted 9 July , 2003 Share Posted 9 July , 2003 CWGC quote his number as 830020 and this turns up the right Canadian record
Broznitsky Posted 9 July , 2003 Author Share Posted 9 July , 2003 Thanks for that Terry, I always seem to forget about CWGC for a lookup. His attestation shows his name as Sinicky, while the NAC index shows Siniski. Curse this Cyrillic-to-English transcription. Why couldn't all names be simple, like Angus Throatwarbler-Mangrove for example.
