I have been tracking Gt Uncle Jim and have discovered from the Medal Rolls that he was with 4 N Staffs.

WAR DIARY:-

4 North Staffs mobilized 6 October 1917. Part of 35 Division, 106th Infantry Brigade attached to 105 Brigade.

25/3/18 MARICOURT 1 Offr 8 OR Killed; 2 Offr 34 OR Wounded, 25 OR Missing

26/3/18 BIJIRE DERNACOURT Attacked high ground east of MORLANCOURT Battalion crossed river at ANCRE DERNACOURT

Casualties 1 Offr 6 OR killed ; 1 Offr 22 OR Wounded; 12 OR Missing

Jim was wounded and taken prisoner but I have no idea when or where he was taken.

I am guessing that he was taken prisoner during the German push in March 1918 as the War diary suggests many 4 N Satffs went missing at that time.

Does anyone know of any others taken prisoner at about that time and place?

Cheers Jane
