Hello,

I've been trying to find a Harved J. F. Taylor in the 1901 Census but can't find anything. He was a WW1 soldier, possible Devon Regiment Territorial. Could anyone please help?

Many thanks,

Duncan.

There was a family in Lewisham with the surname Harvard Taylor in the early 1900s. There were three children listed as born in 1905 and after. Do you know anything more about the soldier you are looking for, such as if he was married etc. ?

Hi,

No I don't I'm afraid. It's an odd one this. I have his 1914/15 Star to Pte 3-7294 H.J.F. Taylor, Devon Regiment. I think the 3/ prefix refers to the fact that he was a pre-war Territorial. He landed in France on 1 Jan 1915, and was discharged on 28 Sept 1915. There is no reason for his discharge and no Silver War Badge mentioned.

Your family in Lewsham certainly seem an odd coincidence!

Duncan.

As has been stated in the other Topic on this man, there is a second MIC (maybe the SWB?) for Harold J F Taylor. Looking at the MIC you posted on that Topic, I would read his name as Harold and not Harved. I think the MIC with "Harved" on it has been transcribed incorrectly...

I posted before seeing the mic. Immediately I saw the mic I read the first name as Harold. I agree with you Steve that this looks like an example of a transcribing error.

Yes! You are right, now it's pointed out to me it is Harold!

Many thanks for the info. I guess that other MIC is his all right.
