Swally Posted 25 June , 2005 Share Posted 25 June , 2005 I believe that my Granda possibly ran away from home to join up. The fact that he came from Aberdeen (recruiting ground for the Goron Highlanders) and that he joined the Royal Horse Artillery. I have a photo that shows him with a Five Year Service stripe and he looks around 19 - 21 years of age, I believe that the picture would have been taken around 1907. He then left the army and married in 1909 He then rejoined in time to go to Mons I have his date of birth 1/05/1885 Robert Allan Long Number 206363 can anyone help find out where he enlisted and when Regards, Ally
