Hi everybody,

Who could give me any info about an Inn situated on the Black mountain during WW1 were many english soldiers drank their last beer.

Marie Ricourt (later living in Danouter) was a servant there and the Inn was owned by her parents. Marie was early 20 when she worked there.

They had to flew april 1917 when germains started the big attack in Western Flamand.

I wonder what happened to the Inn later, and if there are more stories about soldiers having visited that particular Inn.

Any info is welcome.

Marijke

Thanks frie. really a great picture!!!

I wonder if it is the same Inn as it was on the black mountain.

Marie Ricourts story is in a book of Gaston Durnez - "tell me where are the flowers?"

In the book she tells she was living on the black mountain and her parents had the Inn there. The soldiers used a part of their house as kitchen, kantien, and sleeping-place. She also describes the first gas-attack on the black mountain in 1915.
