macfarro Posted 24 June , 2005 Share Posted 24 June , 2005 I am in possession of 1915 Star, Victory and British medals, all inscribed Pvt R. Logan 4027 A&S Highlanders. The MIC shows 4027 A&S - 1 033492 A,O.C - 3 346264 Lab Corp - 2 but all medal rolls appear to be for the A.O.C. and the date of entry to theatre is 10/7/15 Can anybody help explain why the medals are inscribed A&S but the roll seems to be A.O.C. Also any idea what the numbers (1,3,2)against the service numbers are meant to denote. (Could this be order of service.i.e A&S, Lab Corp and finally A.O.C) many thanks Rob Robert_Logan_Medal_Roll.doc
SteveE Posted 24 June , 2005 Share Posted 24 June , 2005 Rob I'd say the 1, 3, 2 against the Regiment/Corps denotes the order that he was in that particular unit, as you rightly suggest. This would explain why he is on the RAOC medal rolls, his last unit. His medals would however be impressed with the details of the unit for which he qualified for them, in this case the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders.
