vickersms Posted 20 June , 2005 Share Posted 20 June , 2005 On Sunday I was shown medals and various souvenirs belonging to the above officer. I hve downloaded the MIC, but have not done any other research as yet. I wondered if anyone with knowledge of or reference books about the Devonshire Regiment may be able to look him up. It's not a common surname - only a total of 5 Hobern's turn up in an MIC search He survived the war.
Jim Strawbridge Posted 21 June , 2005 Share Posted 21 June , 2005 I have the Regimental History. His name does not appear in Decorations and Awards, casualties, mentions in dispatches or in the general index.

vickersms Posted 21 June , 2005 Author Share Posted 21 June , 2005 Many thanks for both responses. Hackney 1898 would probably be right as he came from London. Roland Henry Hobern b. Hackney Dec 1898? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
