Chris_Baker Posted 19 June , 2005 Posted 19 June , 2005 A man I am researching - an old regular soldier, years of experience - rejoined the RGA in 1914 and was posted to the West Lancs Divisional Ammunition Column. That in itself surprised me, but the fact that he landed in Egypt in late May 1915 even more so. As far as I am aware, the West Lancs DAC left the West Lancs Division when all the infantry was sent piecemeal to France and joined the 57th (2nd West Lancs) Division. This went to France later. In other words, no Egypt connection with this unit. Farndale's history of the artillery in Egypt makes no mention of the DAC there. So I am assuming he was sent as an individual to a different unit. Any thoughts, artillery or West Lancs experts?
