Paul Hederer Posted 17 June , 2005 Share Posted 17 June , 2005 The memorial in Ingelheim, the largest town in the immediate area, is quite different than many of the red-stone memorials I've found here. Ingelheim is a medium sized town, with 120 names listed on the 1914-1918 memorial. Quite a few, for what I image, was a quite smaller community in 1914. andigger Posted 18 June , 2005 Share Posted 18 June , 2005 Paul - you will know better than I, but on your link it says 120 fallen... shouldn't it be Gefallen? Andy
spike10764 Posted 18 June , 2005 Share Posted 18 June , 2005 Thanks for sharing this picture of the memorial, and the rather bright church it stands in front of(white and yellow-unmissable )
Paul Hederer Posted 19 June , 2005 Author Share Posted 19 June , 2005 Paul - you will know better than I, but on your link it says 120 fallen... shouldn't it be Gefallen? Andy <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Andy, I was writing in English, in German it is gefallen though, you are 100% correct. The building in the background is actually a castle. I can try and find more information if you like. Paul
historydavid Posted 19 June , 2005 Share Posted 19 June , 2005 The gable behind the memorial is very reminiscent of the type of spsce craft often depicted in comics of many years ago. There I go go showing my age. Best wishes David
