Would anyone with a copy of SDGW be kind enough to look up the following soldier for me

L/Cpl Andrew Shaw

Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders (5th or 8th Battalion ?)

Service No: 3390

DoD: 02/07/16

I have recently been given Andrew's memorial plaque with medals, small box containing letters from him during training and in France, subsequent correspondance between his employers and his father after his death and a rather badly damaged cigarette case which I assume was recovered and sent home.

The above items were given to me by neighbours of his sister who sadly passed away recently, there is no other family remaining and the flat was going to be cleared with everything probably skipped, they knew of my interest and passed them to me, now trying to research as much as I can about Andrew and would therefore appreciate any further info available on SDGW.

Many Thanks for any assisstance given

Many Thanks for the information Malcolm,

Do you know what part of the line the 1/8th A&SH were in at the beginning of July, I know Andrew is buried in Maroeuil Cemetery which is just outside Arras, is this the part of the line they were in ?

The whole Division was holding the Corps line centred on Roclincourt. Two Brigades were in trousers to fool the enemy into thinking there was no change .
