I am researching Cpl Arthur Bertie CUMBERS 8137 9th Batt East Surreys who died aged 24 on the 16th August 1916. Rememberd at Thiepval Monument

Any one have information on where this Battalion was fighting? on that day

My uncle Pte. Edward Ernest Hooper 9th Battalion East Surrey died on the same day in the same action. It was at Guillemont. I have an account of this action from the East Surrey Regimental History and can send it to you off line if you wish.
