Robert Dunlop Posted 15 June , 2005 Share Posted 15 June , 2005 I understand that 2 RIF played an important role in the defence of the Messines Ridge on and around 31st October 1914. I am very interested in the effectiveness of cavalry fighting dismounted. This battle involved several cavalry regiments from Allenby's Cavalry Corps. Is there a war diary for 2 RIF covering this period? If so, does it contain any mention of the cavalry's efforts? Many thanks Robert
