Paul Johnson Posted 15 June , 2005 Share Posted 15 June , 2005 Hello, Welcome to the Forum. Have you visited the National Archives at Kew? Any existing Service Records are held there and can be seen on microfilm. About 60% were destroyed in WW2 during an air raid on the repository where they were held. The remaining 40% are known as the "Burnt" series. There is also a selection of Service Records which were held by the Ministry of Pensions and later transfered to the Public record Office. These can also be seen on microfilm. I assume that you have a copy of your fathers medal index card. If not, you can find it by clicking on the link below. EMERSON, Walter C F You can download a copy of the card from the National Archives for £3.50. This will give you details of the Medal Roll you will need to see. This should tell you which Battalion of the Lancashire Fusiliers he served in. I note from the MIC that he also served in the Worcestershire Regiment. I hope this helps.
