It was a two seat fighter/general purpose machine when it first came into service in 1916, and it had the great advantage of a clear field of fire for the observer, who sat in the front of the cockpit nacelle. The type was obsolescent for daylight use by mid-1917, but came back into prominence in 1918 as a night intruder and light bomber. I hope that this helps you.
