Tony Lund Posted 9 June , 2005 Share Posted 9 June , 2005 I have been sent a copy of a photograph of Holmfirth man Charles Lockwood who I am told was with the 1104 Battery RFA stationed at Siarah in India, his five year old son met him for the first time in 1919. I assume 1104 Battery should read 1104 Brigade but I do not know much about the artillery. Does anyone have any background information on this unit that I can pass back to his family? Thanks Tony. rflory Posted 10 June , 2005 Share Posted 10 June , 2005 1104th Battery was armed with six 18-pdrs. and served in India with 216th Brigade, RFA in the 43rd (Wessex) Division. Regards. Dick
Tony Lund Posted 10 June , 2005 Author Share Posted 10 June , 2005 Thank you for that, do you know if there is a history of this division? I now have four photographs relating to this man or his battery and I would like to put together a bit of the battery’s history to go with them. This would also give me something to give back to the family who kindly supplied me with the photographs. Tony.
rflory Posted 10 June , 2005 Share Posted 10 June , 2005 As far as I know there is no history of the 43rd (Wessex) Division and infortunately the war diaries of 216 Brigade, RFA have not been located. Regards. Dick
