spike10764 Posted 8 June , 2005 Share Posted 8 June , 2005 Beautifully kept memorial. Major Charles Henry Queen was quite something- seriously wounded at Ypres, returns to action when fit and in the thick of the African Campaign. A man like that deserves a memorial like that, don't you think.
Chris_Baker Posted 9 June , 2005 Share Posted 9 June , 2005 Charles Green had a total of 13 years pre-war service, being promoted Captain December 1912. He is mentioned in the 1st SSR battalion war diary on 10 October 1914 as being in command of C Company, when his men took up positions at Maelte. He was wounded at Ypres on 25 or 26 October 1914.
