Information on picture

I was told that the picture below was of an officer in the R.N.A.S. Can anyone please confirm this ?

If he was in the RNAS, can any significance be read into the coat he is wearing (oilskin ?) ?

Could it mean he served on an airship (subject to confirmation of the first question) ?

Grateful for any help someone can give to a complete novice.

Thank you.

Hi Ladon,

The cap badge suggests Petty Officer RN. The coat is an oilskin standard issue to all RN.

Wearing it over his best suit in a studio, anymore information on the chap. Carnt make his name out?. Hope he is Airships

Regards Charles

Thanks for your help.

The picture was taken in Berwick On Tweed.

I can't make out the signature but the surname could well be Hamilton.

Not sure why he his wearing the coat in the studio, he must have been boiling.

Matt.
