Fred W Posted 20 June , 2005 Share Posted 20 June , 2005 It is excellent news to hear of memorials being re-erected in prominent positions. I wish this was the case in my neck of the woods. Pendle Heritage ( aka North West Heritage) have several in their posession but keep them locked up in a store room. They once let them out for me to put on display in the local shopping centre for a week around Armistace Day. John_Hartley Posted 20 June , 2005 Share Posted 20 June , 2005 What do Forum members think ) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Fred I think I like the idea of moveable memorials. You get so used to passing the village/town ones that they can become just part of the landscape. If you saw them for a few days near the local "Cheap N Nasty R Us", folk might stop, look and think. How did it go when you did it? John
Fred W Posted 20 June , 2005 Share Posted 20 June , 2005 John, It was about 3 years ago and it went exceedingly well. The shopping centre management allowed me to use a vacant shop free of charge, Pendle Council supplied some chairs and a table and display frames and covered the insurance liability. Everyone thought that the memorials should be on permanant display somewhere in the town. We still live in hopes!!! Fred

Derek Robertson Posted 28 July , 2005 Share Posted 28 July , 2005 It is quite remarkable how something like this could be lost in the first place. However, well deserved congratulations to all those involved in the reclamation.
Kath Posted 28 July , 2005 Author Share Posted 28 July , 2005 I went to a Jazz evening at a chapel the other evening. The refreshment menu had been placed over the two panels of the Roll of Honour, behind the band!! By blue tac, not pins, I hope. When I've chance I'm following this up.
