alf mcm Posted 31 March , 2008 Share Posted 31 March , 2008 Photo of the Memorial for IWM and I've done the list but what units did Hugh Neilson and Hugh Crawford serve in?? Aye Malcolm Hello Malcolm, Hugh Crawford served as a Private {10835} in the Dragoon Guards and then transferred to the Machine Gun Corps {Cavalry} as a Private {50887}, later being promoted to Lance Corporal. This information comes from C.W.G.C. and the 'Soldiers Died... c.d'. It is also stated that he enlisted in Edinburgh and his residence was Ballymoney, Ireland. This may seem strange since the Livingstone memorial is for employees of the Deans Works who fell in the Great War. However, the final clue is from the Livingston Roll of Honour, which shows a Trooper Hugh Crawford, L.M.G.S. {Light Machine Gun Section?}. He may have been working at the Deans before the war.
