Whilst looking at a soldiers reported death in the Retford Times of Novemeber 1914 he made reference in his last letter to his wife that the 1st Lincolnshires being "christened the gun pinchers" could anybody shed any light on this phrase. The soldier in question was Private William Taylor (5907) killed 1/11/1914.

Thanks in anticipation
