Nathan Greenfield Posted 1 June , 2005 Share Posted 1 June , 2005 Hello: I am trying to find maps that will indicate where the German regiments started on 22nd April and where they ended up during 2nd Ypres (April-May 1915). Any leads? Thanks Nathan
andigger Posted 1 June , 2005 Share Posted 1 June , 2005 1915 Maps are hard to come by (I learned this from Croonaert). If you search there are some recent threads on the topic. You should also check out www.pathsofglory.co.uk for some other interesting maps though. Andy
CROONAERT Posted 1 June , 2005 Share Posted 1 June , 2005 The German histories are probably your best bet. A little more accessable though, would be the map volume of the British Official History ("Military Operations, France and Belgium 1915") which shows the positioning of German units, sometimes to regimental level opposite the Brit/french ones. 2nd Ypres is almost covered in a "day by day" format in this volume (more of a folder than a "volume" actually!), so you should find your answer there. marc leroux Posted 1 June , 2005 Share Posted 1 June , 2005 The Official History of the Canadian Forces in the Great War by Duguid has a series of 9 maps outlining Alliaed/German positions from April 22 to May 3. The volume is available on CD here. marc
