Desmond7 Posted 31 May , 2005 Share Posted 31 May , 2005 Looks like he had to pay it back to me. This is my best reading of it! As a soldier is not entitled to draw both Grat. and addl. pension of 6d a day for Gall. Cond., the amount of the addl. 6d a day (viz. 3/6 a week) will be retained until the £20 has been paid back after which you will draw it in addition to your invalid pension. No deduction will be made from whatever pension you may be awarded in respect of ... can't read that word. Des - nice one BTW
Tom Morgan Posted 31 May , 2005 Share Posted 31 May , 2005 Des - good interpretation of the letter - which is a draft, I'm sure. To clarify one of your queries, the reference is to "6d a day" and later, "6d". Tom
stiletto_33853 Posted 31 May , 2005 Share Posted 31 May , 2005 Steve, Des looks to have got it right, it must be the journalistic flair he has. Andy

HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 31 May , 2005 Share Posted 31 May , 2005 Hi Enoch,Thanks for PM, It looks like as others have stated he was deemed to have been overpaid on his Gallantry & Conduct Pensions,& had to repay part of one or either of them,However the Wording that was apparently unreadable by the previous poster seems to read " No deduction will be made from "Whatever Pension is given For Disy{ability?} I hadn't seen such a document before this, but it appears typically forthright for such departments to balance the books.Interesting.......
