Hambo Posted 30 May , 2005 Share Posted 30 May , 2005 Hello again Does anyone know the fate of Lt Commander Alexander Lubbock who served aboard HMS Donegal and died on the 28th of April 1918. He is commemorated on the Portsmouth memorial to the missing. I have his CWGC details but nothing else Also, unrelated to the above and not being a navy expert. If a man died of natural causes at sea and was buried at sea, would he still have been listed on the memorial to the missing? Many Thanks again Hambo
kin47 Posted 30 May , 2005 Share Posted 30 May , 2005 Hello Lubbock was killed in S.S. ORONSA on 28 April 1918 as a passenger. He was on passage for DONEGAL. To be commemorated on the Memorials only requires that the man have "no known grave." There is no distinction as to how he died. Lubbock, however, died in a submarine attack. don
