These are photos of the two tombs of a certain CaptainCunningham of the US army who has two tombs in the St. Mihiel salient.

As you can see, one is in the cemetery (where he is buried) and the other in the forest. No one now knows apparently why he got this big tomb paid for by the local commune.

I should have said that the poppy was placed on the tomb by a british couple just a couple of hours before I was there last August. I have no idea who they were. It was some local walkers who told me.

They also said that there is a memorial to someone nearby and that it is made out of some pieces of aircraft. I failed to find it.
