He was actually named as being injured by being shelled while forming an operations dump at the Butte, Polygon Wood. What sort of dump would this be? Munitions or something similar? Paul Reed Posted 4 July , 2003 Share Posted 4 July , 2003 It would probably be a foward dump of engineering tools, equipment and supplies, and might even have included small arms ammo and bombs for the infantry. Lucky it was'nt all munitions because the shelling that hit him also killed 2 and wounded 6 including him. Could have been a really big bang!
