Tim Godden Posted 28 May , 2005 Share Posted 28 May , 2005 Hi there, I have just seen an article on Sky about a man and his wife who are about to celebrate their 80th Wedding Anniversary. The man, Percy Arrowsmith, is 104 that could make him a possible veteran, if he served underage. I have searched the MiCs and there are three listed. Two of these soldiers survived: Medal card of Arrowsmith, Percy J Corps: Royal Garrison Artillery Regiment No: 199786 Rank: Gunner and Medal card of Arrowsmith, Percy Corps: Machine Gun Corps Regiment No: 43114 Rank: Private The first does seem to have a high number which may indicate a very late enlistment. Does anyone no of Mr. Arrowsmith and if, indeed, he is a veteran? Many thanks, Tim
KONDOA Posted 28 May , 2005 Share Posted 28 May , 2005 Tim, Your first candidate's number is a re-number of either a TF or locally raised New Army unit . However given that you have not indicated a previous number it is a possible, as this would be post April (ish) 1917, which fits your proposition admirably. Tim Godden Posted 28 May , 2005 Author Share Posted 28 May , 2005 Thanks for the reply. I have since discovered - by listening to the article again - that he is actually 105, but still no mention of service. I have been in contact with Sky to see if they have any more info, but nothing so far. Many thanks, Tim
