Remembered Today:

Chancellor Bethmann Hollweg

Recommended Posts

Bethmann Hollweg's son was a student at Balliol College, Oxford prior to the outbreak of the Great War. He was, I believe, KIA at some point and his name was not included in the Balliol Memorial Registers.

Does anybody know what happened to the man, details of his service, burial etc. I'm afraid that I don't even have his first name.

Any help would be appreciated.

Best,

Paul Byrne

I've checked SDGW for both officers and men for the surname but nothing came up. Also checked the CWGC website and again turned up a blank.

Looks as if , if he did serve, he was lucky enough to survive.

Thanks for your reply. He did actually serve and was killed while with the German Army!! His father was, I think, Foreign Minister in 1914.

Best,

Paul
