BeppoSapone Posted 27 May , 2005 Share Posted 27 May , 2005 Item number 6533943078, for sale on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 Out of interest, does anyone know who the original owner was? Plenty of clues, if the items are untouched and the blurb is right. A member of the Duke of Wellingtons who was in France early enough to get a rosette to his star, won the DSO and the MC. Can't be too many of that rank, even if he was a General in WW2. But where is his Victory Medal ribbon?
charlesmessenger Posted 27 May , 2005 Share Posted 27 May , 2005 This item is highly suspicious. A WW2 full general would have certainly had more ribands than shown and the absence of the Victory Medal is a further indicator. Pin on riband bars were only used with tropical dress. Ribands were always sewn on normal temperate uniform. In any event I cannot recall a WW2 full general who came from the DWR. Charles M
