Hi

Is this an identifiable site today? Do any traces survive? Also do we have a date for the picture?

Should be easy to spot if it's round Hornchurch (assuming it's not been built on!), because Essex is not the hilliest of counties...

(Essex born and bred, except for the ones from Scotland, Manchester, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire...)

Looks like Suttons Farm or the Hornchurch Airfield

Should anyone have chance to go and see if anything survives I'd be pleased to hear.

I would imagine it's Suttons Farm. As the Battalion sailed East on 22nd July 1915 and landing at Suvla Bay and judging by the pic,April/May 1915 probably a good bet. Regards Steve.

Martin. Went over to to the site today, but about the only thing that's there is the name Airfields Way, and there is a myriad of new estates, and even a new one being built now. However Hornchurch Country Park is there. and there may well be something there. I'll check soon when I've got more time, as today was only a "passing through" visit. Regards Steve.
