leigh Posted 25 May , 2005 Share Posted 25 May , 2005 Numbers were only unique within a regiment so I think you need some hint of a regiment to truly research it. Regards Leigh

leigh Posted 25 May , 2005 Share Posted 25 May , 2005 well from the PRO MIC's there are 2 East lancs with the number 5419 east lancs 5419 and there are 126 results without restricting to the East Lancs. MIC's to 5419 Might be lucky if researched and narrowed down. L.
bkristof Posted 25 May , 2005 Author Share Posted 25 May , 2005 Those are all survivors of the war?
leigh Posted 25 May , 2005 Share Posted 25 May , 2005 they are from the Medal index cards, so survivors and deceased. You think your guy died? you could refer to the war diaries and eliminate men that were from regiments and units not in the location of your find. But I guess that you will never be able to proove that the item definately belonged to a particular person, just a high likelyhood. L.
