londons Posted 23 May , 2005 Share Posted 23 May , 2005 Hi, Can anyone tell me the date that a zeppelin raid hit the Smithfield area of London in 1916? The bombs dropped caused damage to the St Bartholomew the Great church in Smithfield in 1916 and I need the date or rough date for a book that I am writing. Many thanks in anticipation, can't find the date anywhere!!! Regards, Lee

londons Posted 24 May , 2005 Author Share Posted 24 May , 2005 Many thanks for that, my source must have been incorrect stating 1916? Do you know of any raids in 1916 around February time but no later than 12th march by any chance? My main character in the book was born on the 12th March 1916 and this was 4 weeks early and labour was brought on by the shock of a zeppelin raid. Originally I was told it was the Leefe Robinson hit but I found that his birth was too early for that particular event. I was told however that the airship was shot down / crashed. However, the only fact that i am sure of is that ther must have been a raid a day or so before 12th March 1916. Any help you could give me would be very much appreciated. Many thanks for your kind assistance. Lee
