chasver Posted 23 May , 2005 Share Posted 23 May , 2005 Help!! - having admired this site for a few months I have decided to join the Forum to see if there's anyone out there with a depth of knowledge about those unsung heroes, the ASC. I'm trying to track my wife's Grandfather, S/30017 W V Pamplin. He was a pre-war Regular who also served in WWII (I'm just sending off to the MOD for details from his file but will have to wait months for a response). His medal cards show he departed for France on 7/8/14 so one was one of the first to arrive. However his units are a problem. The 1914 Star card shows D V (U?) of S - is this the Depot Unit of Supply? If it is there were a number of these existing at the outbreak of war, was one set up initially, if so where? His MSM gazetted in June 1918 shows No 2 L of C Sup Col. On this one Mike Young's excellent book shows 1-38 L of C Supply Cos 'Details not known'. Can anyone assist?
