Hi all,

As like many trying to find any info in my Gt Grandfather who died of wounds on 4th November 1916, whilst with the 1st Bn Middlx Regt.

I have tried the NRA but unfortunately no service records found. Did find medal roll etc to confirm his number .

Born Nottinghill and lived enlisted in Harefield. Buried at Grovetown Cmty on Somme.

Have also got info from the Die Hard site on the 1st Bn and managed to gain som info here.

Info I am really trying to find out is:

Date of enlistment (if known from his service number)

Where he could have been at the time of his wounding (Le Transloy?)

What his wounds were that killed him

Know that this is a long shot for such info through the forum, but never know if someone can help unless you ask.

Many thanks and any information is always appreciated.

You will probably get a better response posting this topic in Soldiers or Units
