euking Posted 20 May , 2005 Share Posted 20 May , 2005 I am looking for help with research before my next trip to the Piave region in Italy; what planes would the British 45 and 66 squadrons be flying in 1917-18 in the area and where might their airfields have been? euking

ChrisM Posted 23 May , 2005 Share Posted 23 May , 2005 Chris – thanks very much. Interesting and useful. Do you, or any other forum member, know precisely what is meant by “Milan”. (I posted a picture of a group of so far unidentified RFC officers there in euking – sorry that I can’t help you much on locations. (www.multimap.com is always a good starting point). But the following thread provides some snippets of information (mainly with the help of Dolphin) about Istrana and neighbouring airfields as well as a description of the lethal farce which was played out there on Boxing Day 1917. chrisharley9 Posted 23 May , 2005 Share Posted 23 May , 2005 Looking at the RAF bases map which shows the general not exact location I think it is this one http://uk.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?clie...&multimap.y=152 All The Best Chris
ChrisM Posted 23 May , 2005 Share Posted 23 May , 2005 Chris... In other words, Milan (Linate) in an earlier guise, so it seems. Thanks. Chris
