Hi, can anyone help me with some information about hte SS Stanley

I have the Medals of Richard Morris, who is in the CWGC memorial as a Fireman and was killed on the SS Stanley (West Hartlepool)

All information greatly received.

Corby,

The Stanley was a 3987 grt steamer of the Pyman S.S. Co. Ltd that was built in 1914. She was torpedoed and sunk in the Atlantic 230 miles WxN from Fastnet Rock (50°50'N, 16°W or so) by the German submarine U 24 while on a voyage from Newports News, VA, USA for Cherbourg, France with a cargo of grain. 8 lost.

Best wishes,

Michael
