Can anybody give me any information on the Right hook actioned by the 7th and 9th Norfolks at Cambrai? Starting from nothing, I am interested in any details, how, when and where it happened?

Grateful in anticpation,

Glenn

On 20 November there was an attack on Ribécourt la Tour by two tank companies. They were followed by 2nd Sherwood Foresters and 9th Norfolks who occupied the village.

At Bonavis 7th Suffolks with the help of one company of 7th Norfolks took control of the first Hindenburg system. (Gibot / Gorczynski).

Jack Horsfsfall in Pen & Sword will have a few more references which I'll have time to check for you tomorrow, if nobody else does first.

The Suffolk / Norfolk action on Nov 20 was south of Sonnet Farm between La Vacqueris and Banteux. Theres's a good map of this in Jack Horsfall's Cambrai - the Right Hook. During the counter-offensive of Nov 30 they were just north at Bleak House on the main road to Peronne. Early in the morning they were overwhelmed, took heavy losses, including their commander Lt. Col. HLFA Gielgud (any relation?), but managed to still hold back the Germans.
