If some kind soul with access to a Navy list could look up a Royal marine by the name of George Batchelor and serving with the royal naval division It would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Kevin :)

I have a feeling that the Navy Lists only cover Officers and Warrant Officers.

I stand to be corrected.

Hello

Nigel you are correct. Only commissioned and warrant officers are in the NAVY LIST.

If I had a little more information, so I would know where to look, Kevin, there are other sources for RND personnel.

All best

Thanks for the offer Don but I only have very limited info.In fact I only confirmed his first name yesterday.

George Batchelor

born in manchester 1898

signed on long term ie 12 years.

Served at Gallipoli.( He told my father he was one of the last to leave).

Wounded and taken prisoner at Cambrai on March 10 1918.

Escaped then worked on a farm.(In germany I guess).

After the war served on the HMS TEMERAIRE.(at least from late 1919 to early 1920). Corperal.

Absconded and landed in australia in 1922.

Is there any thing there that can help?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thank

Kevin.

For an other rank: you need to find his service number either from the indexes in ADM 313 or from the medal roll in ADM 171 and then look in ADM 159 for his service record.
