davidfegga Posted 14 May , 2005 Share Posted 14 May , 2005 Hi all My Grandad Arnold Annable, lost a leg serving with the 1st Devonshires at the tender age of 18. He enlisted Jan 1918, but unfortunately his records are no more. I'm sure I've heard somewhere that the above list could give me some ideawhen/where he was wounded. But where are they kept, and are they accessible? Dave
swizz Posted 14 May , 2005 Share Posted 14 May , 2005 Not sure about the official casualty lists, but in my experience local newspapers reproduced the relevant details about local men. In many cases these are supplemented by further information about the soldier and sometimes reproductions of letters or other information. Could be worth a try anyway. rflory Posted 15 May , 2005 Share Posted 15 May , 2005 Casualty lists for both officers and other ranks were published in The Times throughout the war. Regards. Dick Flory
Coldstreamer Posted 15 May , 2005 Share Posted 15 May , 2005 Hello The other week or so you could look at "The Times" newspapers on line as part of library week - Im sure there must be a way to look rather than just on this occasion Ian
