shinglma Posted 12 May , 2005 Share Posted 12 May , 2005 Does anybody know the whereabouts and movement of the 6th DLI around 17/01/1917? I am interested in one of their men who was attached to a TM battey and lies in Flatiron Copse Cemetery near Mametz. His name was Pte C L Collins 6/4422 who died on the above date. I assume that Pte Collins would have been attached to the TM battery of 151 brigade. Would that be correct? Glad for any assistance. Mike
David_Blanchard Posted 12 May , 2005 Share Posted 12 May , 2005 From Harry Moses; ' The Faithful Sixth' page 80 'On the 15th January , enemy shelling reached back to the camp at High Wood, where several deatils had been left, and one OR was killed and eight wounded. Enemy gunfire continued the following day with high explosive and shrapnel shells. The battalion was relieved by the 9th DLI and moved to huts at Bazentin-Le-Petit. The next three days were spent cleaning up and finding working parties.' I hope this helps, Regards D
