Remembered Today:

German Graves Hargicourt

Back in March I was over on the Hindenburg Line and paid a visit to the Hargicourt quarries, an area that has always interested me. On a very sunny March day spent some time walking round Hargicourt British Cemetery (see below).

While there came across these two graves. Interesting as they contain a lot of details about the men - which is fairly unusual - and a personal inscription when I cannot recall seeing before on a German grave in a CWGC cemetery.

Does anyone know anything about them or their unit?

Paul,

Just some brief information. The regiment shown was part of the 25th Division. On 21 March the regiment took part in the attacks near Le Verguier, northwest of St. Quentin.

I did a quick check through my records but nothing else came up. Unfortunately I do not have the regimental history for this unit.

I know where one exists, let me see if I can locate any additional material and post it here.

Ralph
