Mark Hone Posted 2 May , 2005 Share Posted 2 May , 2005 This MIC relates to an ancestor of my neighbour's. She also has his Soldier's Small Book and some RAMC photos, includingg one taken in 1911. I have a slip awarding him the War Badge in December 1916. I assume that he did not see overseas service, but was discharged (unfit?) in late 1916, at the age of 38. I think that the first line of writing at the bottom of the card says 'SWB first-RAMC/84', presumably the Silver War Badge. I would be grateful if anyone with a more eagle eye than me could confirm this and possibly point out any details I might have missed. Thanks. stiletto_33853 Posted 2 May , 2005 Share Posted 2 May , 2005 Hi Mark, Once again you need to check it against a book at Kew. RAMC being the prefix and list No 84, this will give you the WO329/???? to order at the NA. i.e., Prefix List No L 1 - 300 WO329/3114 L 301 - 600 WO329/3115 L 601 - 998 WO329/3116 and so on. It would appear that your neighbours ancestor lost his badge and it was reported found on 24/9/19. I believe by law anyone finding a SWB had to hand it in to the Police.
