Today 87 years ago (1 May 1918)my grandfather was KIA near Merville. At the same front opposing his coy, the very same day, died two Brit soldiers. Can anybody trace HOW they died/ what was the cause of their death?

Robert Vincent Bowles was born at Plaitford, Hampshire and enlisted at Southampton. He was Killed in Action 1.5.18 and had previously been 8/7707 T.Reserve Battalion.

Bert Demmery was born at Kingswood, Gloucestershire and enlisted at Bristol. He was killed in action 1/5/18 and had previously served as 27872 in the Dorset Regiment.
