Stellan Bojerud Posted 1 May , 2005 Share Posted 1 May , 2005 11th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers I think arrived in France 25th Aug 1915. What is known of this Bns activities up to 31st Dec 1915? Greetings Stellan
Stebie9173 Posted 1 May , 2005 Share Posted 1 May , 2005 According to the main site the 11th Northumberland Fusiliers were 68th Brigade, 23rd Division. The only detail given for the Division was that they weree initially in trenches near Tilques. The Battle of Loos is not listed as one of their engagments, so they answer to your main question is probably no. The main site also has extracts of the Battalion War Diary from March 1916 to the Armistice. The battalions first major engagement seems to be at Contalmaison at the Somme on 7-7-1916. I hope this help until someone can provide more detailed information. Steve.
