Guest margaret-in-sydney Posted 19 April , 2004 Share Posted 19 April , 2004 Re: Internment Camp at Islington I am in posession of an artifact hand-made by an unknown POW (presumbably German?) at the Islington Camp in 1916. I would like to return the object to the family of its original owner and would appreciate any help tracking down names of male prisoners interned at Islington camp during 1916. Surname of prisoner is believed to begin with letter 'H', and a photo included in the piece leads me to believe prisoner was a highly-awarded sportsman. Any help greatly appreciated. Margaret. BKirwan Posted 23 October , 2015 Share Posted 23 October , 2015 Frongoch internment was also used to house prisoners from the Irish 1916 Easter Rising. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frongoch_internment_camp Regards Brian
Jazzycat Posted 24 August , 2016 Share Posted 24 August , 2016 I don't know whether anyone is still following this but would there have been any lists with names? My grandparents came to England in 1860. He had a son by a second marriage and he was interred during WW1.
